Placement of Applique Vines
Ordinarily I am not a symmetrical person, but I wanted my vines to be somewhat similar in placement across the two halves of the border. I folded the border in half on the short side and then placed the vines to a pleasing position on one half only. To match the second side, I folded the border in half to the kitchen full-glass door with the pinned side against the glass allowing the blank side towards me. Using the shadow of the first side and was able to pin the second half vine without any problem.
I will do the same thing when I place the leaves and circles. Then onto the top and side borders.
Thought you'd like to know.

That sounds great, Suz! I have a "June Tailor" curvy template for cutting the outer edges of quilts. I got it at Joann Fabrics. I use it whenever I want to draw a curved line, lay down an evenly spaced vine, or draw curvy quilting lines. I agree with you about symmetry - if things are too wonky sometimes, they do bother me.

Thanks for tip! I’m getting close to placing a vine for appliqué on a border. I don’t have a full paper pattern, just units: corner, middle, bottom/top sides & left/right sides. Planning to use the acrylic part of my sewing machine insert as my light box (with iPhone flashlight providing the light). But it may be too small and I may need to move to the “window as light box”.
