Default Chevron Block

I attempted to make my first chevron (9" block) and no matter what I did, it was 1/2" short on all sides. It has a lot of small pieces and I pressed after each sewing but I finally had to add a small border to be able to use it. What am I doing wrong???

Have you checked if you are getting an accurate 1/4" seam? A scant difference can really add up by the time a block is completed. Love chevrons!

Did you add the 3/8" extra you need when sewing on the diagonal in the cutting out process? I usually add 1/2" then trim to the correct half square triangle block size.
