    paper piecing hexagons

Could anyone tell me what size paper hexagon I would need to make a finished 3 inch hexagon? Ive searched everywhere but they all tell me HOW to put it together not what size they make.

EPP measurements are done by the length of the sides. So, if you're wanting a 3 inch finished hexie you'd use 3 inch paper hexies with the fabric cut a little larger-I usually add 1/4 inch-to fold over. If you're wanting 3 inch finished hexies measured some other way-say side to side-I'd suggest going here to see what size prints up the size you're looking for. http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/trianglehex.html

Here is one site that has some dimensions:

    http://www.ardcotemplates.com/shapehelp/hex-help.shtml

If you google "hexagon measurements" - a lot of information comes up.

Wish this had worked on my old computer because it didn't for me! It really does get confusing. I have been thinking of making some mug rugs using 7 hexagons. Thanks for the post.

My go to site is Paper Pieces..in Paducah...they gave a phone number and are great to work with......may I suggest you also buy (from them) the acrylic template for that size to cut your fabric...it is inexpensive and the seam allowance is 3/8". That 1/8" really makes a difference. I have purchased several pp and acrylic sizes from them and have find they work well
