Default Paper Piecing Question

I paper pieced a star which I love. When I ironed it with steam, it seems to be a little wrinkled.
Does ironing paper piecing with steam stretch the material?
Thanks.

Are the papers still in? Steam can cause both paper and fabric to wrinkle sometimes. I always press my fabric with starch and a fairly hot iron BEFORE cutting out my pieces to avoid problems when pressing my block.

Have you removed your paper yet? Sometimes, because I use cheap paper - the paper can distort before removal. While removing the paper, you can also stretch your seams and fabric if you pull really hard to remove the paper. I use a small stitch and because I use cheap copy paper, when removing it, I run a damp qtip down the stitches which softens the paper under the stitches and the paper removes easily.

I trim each seam as I go and press every piece that I sew onto a pp project carefully. This eliminates any unwanted fullness. I rarely have a wrinkling issue.

I don't use steam when paper piecing. I have a spray bottle of water and spray my finger, run my wet finger down the seam then press with a dry iron. I also use cheap copy paper and found that if I used steam it caused the distortion you're seeing.

I don't use steam when the paper is still in. I am starting to starch more now a days when I am doing paper piecing. Hopefully, when the paper is removed. your block will be OK !!

The paper is out and it is wrinkled. Think I need not to steam it when I paper piece.
