A friend of my DH's asked me to make 2 lap quilts out of his wifes clothes (she passed away) one for each of his daughters. Most of them are flannel and sweats. Any ideas. :? :)

I don't think I would use the sweats in the quilt unless you stabilize it. What about using all the other fabric in the quilt body and then doing an applique with the sweats. Sort of like a raggy look. Cut out shape and then stitch in maybe 1/4" and say good to go. Can be very cute.

A number of years ago I made teddy bears from the shirts of a family member that had passed away for one of my sewing customers. They had a very large family, so that way everyone got a memento. I thought it was very thoughtful of the immediate family.

all i can think of is rag quilts. use both fabrics together, should give it some interest. be sure to do an X or something in each block to stabilize the fabrics.
