Default Patriotic/Valor Quilt Pattern Struggle

My dear husband picked out a patriotic panel and the fabric to match, I even bought and additional patriotic fabric jelly roll just to add if need be, but for the life of me I can't seem to find a pattern to incorporate the panel. I'm at a brain block too. Does anyone have any suggestions for an easy pattern. We got the panel and 3 other fabrics to go with it about 3 yards each. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Any star block would do. If needed, you could do a border around the panel to match the number of blocks in the row to make the size quilt you want.

Can you post a picture of the panel, or a link to it?

Look at "round robin" quilts. You might get some inspiration there.

Popover...great quilt!

Jeananne, you might want to browse through the free patterns on eQuilter.com. They have lots of great patterns and many of them use panels. You might key in the name of your panel and see if there is one to match already. Another option, go to the manufacturer of the panel, they often have free patterns to go with their designs.

'Hazen's Hops' by Three Birds (Devils Lake, ND) is an easy panel quilt pattern and with the fabric you bought you may have enough for the backing too.

Here's a beautiful one from Quilts of Valor website. I saw this displayed at a quilt show it is prettier than it looks in the pictures. It is called log cabin QOV so you can Google it in case my link doesn't work.

I would probably work from the inside out. Meaning, figure out how to border the panel (and probably do the same for the outside borders). Then you can figure out what to place in the space between the borders. Once you have highlighted the panel and 'seperated' it, a pattern may pop into your head. The idea of stars almost always works with a patriotic panel. The best thing when you get a brain block (I find) is to step away from it. I have some wine, watch a movie and relax - clear the head. Then things start flooding back in!
