itty bitty primitive tool
It looks just like the twister tool. I know that the company that makes the lil twister also has a smaller one that makes 2 1/2" blocks. I choose to get the one that uses 5" squares instead.

I saw a 10" block made with it that would be perfect for a candle mat. I think the squares were 2 1/2", 90 of them, and it was made using the itty bitty tool. I think the tool is 1 1/4" but don't know where the diagonal lines would be. Any ideas?

I made my own template yesterday for the charm square size. 3.5" was the template and the lines 1" in .....looking at it I think the bigger template is 6.5" and I'm going to just follow the lines out from that and cut the square smaller to make a smaller one... this is experimenting but I refuse to pay for something I can only use for twisters...DH will either cut me some acrylic or as I'm short a 3.5" ruler will buy one and mark it.
found this http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...t141101-2.html
The 8" tool uses 10" blocks, the 3½" tool uses 5" blocks, the 2¼" tool uses 3½" blocks and the 1½" tool uses 2½" blocks.
can someone confirm what border sizes the twisters uses, I've read its a 6" border, the smaller ones must have tiny borders, the moda 2.5" blocks would be good for the tiny tool although cutting.
I'll get busy with the drawing and see if my calculations match up with someone else's large twister, then we just reduce it for the smaller ones I reckon.

Thanks to everyone's posts on here and in blogland for tutorials and tips on making twisters. I'm really excited by them.
ok I've done some drawing and its a bit difficult as I only have template paper in inches and its 1/4 inch not smaller... but I think if you want to design your own twister template you need to mark the measurements and join up the lines.
So mark top side left to bottom side right and top edge right to bottom edge left (look at the above pic might be easier ) )
for the 8" tool 2 3/8 inches in ----- uses 10" charm and 6" border (what i've found in blogland, not sure it's correct)
EDITED am confused now as have just found an old post on here that says 8" tool should be 1 3/4 in... so perhaps my follow line out method doesn't work :O(
for the 3 1/2" tool 1 inch in ----- uses 5" charm and 3" border
for the 2 1/4" tool 5/8 inch in ---- uses 31/2" charm no idea for border, I'm estimating its 1 3/4"
and for the 1 1/2" tool 7/16th inch in -- uses 21/2" charm and Im estimating a 1" border
hth and i'm off to chop up my 5" charms after finishing my first practice piece this morning
