I've used Kona cotton and although I find it to be of decent quality, it doesn't compare to standard quilt store fabrics. But sometimes, I just really need a SOLID color. I've seen a few jelly rolls from Moda (white, black, and pastel) that are truly solid, but who else makes this?

Really would like to pick up some, and have looked at quite a few websites without much luck.

Thanks in advance,
Sam

If you are using the Kona from Joann's, it's not the same as Kaufman Kona fabric (the good stuff from the quilt shop). If you look at the bolt, you will not see Kaufman's name on those. There's really no comparison. Kaufman's is very nice.

This is very true. I have purchased both, thinking I was getting a good deal at Joann's. But when you have compared them side by side you can tell the difference. We sure have to be on the ball when it comes to the differences in LQS fabrics and any others.

;)

Would these solids go well with batiks? I am makeing a quilt with a jelly roll of batiks, but need to find a equal quality for the solid yardage.

IMO, Kona's quality is very good. But I don't think Kona is exactly the right fabric to go with batiks. The type of fabric is altogether different. No doubt someone else will have a good idea as to what would be best to use.
