I love batiks and I am not familiar with this website, I can see that I may be making a lot of new quilts. Thank you ladies!

What is your friend interested in? Maybe you could design an applique pattern around his/her interests?

I love to play with color and have no fears however I thought this time a unique pattern may be of interest.

Not sure why a pattern would need to be earth toned. You can use those fabrics on any pattern.
