I have some beautiful yellow fabric with roses on it. I wanted to make a table runner using this fabric along with dark green, dark purple & light purple cotton. I have a beautiful piece of batik that starts as light rose, goes to orange, pink & yellow with gold feathers outlined on top. Can you successfully combine the 2 different fabrics or is it best to stick to one or the other? Thanks.

I see no reason why you can't mix them. If you like the combination you should go for it. Seems like I heard once that a little batik will liven up any quilt.

I don't know how clear this picture will be, but I saw this in McCall's magazine & just had to do it. It's mostly Batiks but the blues, purples & pinks are just regular cottons. I love how it looks & can't wait for it to be quilted

Thanks so much for the fast answers!! I had to put away the quilt top I am making for my granddaughter as she is coming for a short visit & I have to put it up (it's a surprise) but I wanted to have something to work on if I have some time. I am measuring & cutting some of it now.

I mix them all the time. In my bargellos I have used mostly batiks but since I could never find a white batik I used WOW and have never had any problems.

Well, I think it would be a real shame to limit batik's exposure to only other batiks. Not that they are not nice companions, but hey, batiks just wanna have fun!
