My neighbour gives me a couple each Christmas. They are not fancy but handy. She does about 24 single crochets across in rows and finishes the edge by crochetting all around the edge. It is about 7 inches square. She uses the thick cotton yarn so they take the heat really well. I've never used them as dishclothes, just for putting on the knobs of my casserole dishes. I could easily do them myself but they are always more special when someone goes to the trouble to make them for me.

Thanks T and Sewmary. I'll definitely make some. My SIL also had a couple of these Scrubbies.

I made something like this to cover my cottage's brass doorknobs because they made my hands stinky. But I tie them on with a ribbon threaded thru a channel where you see the elastic in your picture.
Could have used elastic I suppose, but 1. I didn't think of it, and, 2. it would have been such a little piece it would have annoyed me to sew it.
