Hi everyone,
We are just learning to quilt(daughter and I) and are trying to complete a rabbit themed quilt for 4H. My daughter has embroidered 30 some squares of pictures of rabbits. These can be sized from 10-12 inch squares. We are looking for a geometric design, made from various shapes such as triangles, squares, etc. that would be formed into the shape of rabbits (with erect ears, not lop breeds). If I could find such a pattern for this type of block, I would be happy to buy it. So far we have looked at probably 2 dozen quilt books, one of which had 5500 patterns at the library and many searches on line. Have seen patterns for other animals but no rabbits. The rabbit patterns we have found have been for aplique type blocks. Hoping someone can help!

I found a paper-pieced rabbit, maybe you could adapt it to suit your needs.

Judy

Oops. I just looked at it again and noticed the ears go down. You might try drawing it out with the ears going up.

This cute little pattern is from an Easter book, and it looks too complex for a beginner, but maybe it will give you ideas! Good luck. S.

Welcome and what a nice project you are doing. BTW, I would suggest editing your post and remove your e-mail addy as many can just lurk.

Just a small suggestion. Take one of the applique pattern, picture. And draw or trace it out, then enlarge per size you want a block to be. Then draw your lines over the drawing/tracing and you will know how to cut the pieces of a block to create the block of the rabbit you want. I hope you understand what I said. It's not complicated, just alittle time consuming. Ex:If you where wanting to create a 9 patch block then draw the lines of a nine patch block. That would divide up the block into 9 pieces. In each piece you would see what part of the rabbit would need to be cut and pieced, so that when you sewed all 9 pieces together, you would have your rabbit.

Better Homes and Gardens-501 Quilt blocks. Has 3 pieced bunny patterns in it. In the past I have enlarged the pictures, sometimes I have been able to paper piece them and sometimes I make the paper block cut all the pieces out and use the paper pieces as templates.
