Thread: Pfaff 2170 used?

Hi--need some advice please.... I currently sew on a Pfaff QE4 for sewing/quilting. Love the wide throat and IDT. Sewing bug has bit my wife and she wants an entry level embroidery machine that also sews.
Our LQS has a used Pfaff 2170. Is this a good machine? We are considering this machine--we know who it belonged to and it can share some feet with our QE4. It was a shop machine in their classroom and then it went home with a very experienced worker in the LQS and I know that she treated it right and was her backup machine.
We also know that the shop owner has one just like it that she sews on all the time.
Is this a good machine or would we be better off on getting a new one (a different brand) for around the same $$??
What would be a good price for this machine? LQS employee (who also used it) didn't say how old this machine was.

I do not own a Pfaff however I think they are very good machines. The 2170 I believe would be somewhat like a viking designer se which is a really good machine. The only 2170 I could find used for sale is on Ebay and the are asking 3000.00 Your wife is one lucky lady for sure! Not sure what would be a fair $.
