I think this may have come up before but I don't remember the responses. If the LA quilter has given you the bill for her work, is there an expectation of a tip? I am new to quilting and recently picked up and paid for one of my projects but got to thinking ....should I have included a tip? Would appreciate your thoughts/practices?

I don't know the right answer, but I don't tip the lady who does mine. I never really thought of it. I'll be curious to see what the LA folks on this site think.

I've never tipped either.

It's my view that tips should be paid whenever anyone goes above and beyond your expectations. So if you quilter did an excellent job, tip her. If she did what you expected, then don't.

I think it's a personal decision. Some customers tip and others don't.

I don't use a longarmer but i would think there would be no expectation of a tip. that being said, if the quilter went above and beyond your expectations, a tip would be a nice addition.

I am a LA quilter and I don't expect a tip. Often a customer does add extra into the check and its always a nice surprise but I give the same service to those who don't as to those who do. Just seeing their expressions and hearing their compliments is tip enough.

We dont expect tips either....we provide a service and I think thats enough tipping isnt required but it happens often...knowing we do a good job and seeing a customers satisfaction is the best tip
