Alright so sunday has come and gone :( Sorry I haven't posted a picture of the fabrics I have gotten last week. My husband is on spring break and we packed up and went to his parents house for the week. We will be returning home Sunday and I plan on getting up some pictures then.
I decided to make a scrap quilt out of all the fabrics I have gotten and toss in some of my scraps as well. I'm just cutting 2 1/2 inch squares right now.
Want to know how you do your scrap quilts? I am a little bit OCD and have a hard time doing things without some kind of pattern in mind. I'm afraid of the same fabric being too close to the same one and so on. Help me out if you can.
Oh I'm now 24 weeks pregnant (6 months) I think I posted pictures last week sometime.
    Thank you all!

I often sew these scraps together randomly. But remember, random does not mean that none of the same will be touching. I work very hard to not consciously choose fabrics with the exception that I won't purposely use the same two next to each other. Wish I could post a pic but the camera and I are in different locations! I've done many random piecings and it never fails that there are two of the same pieces next to each other by the end! Believe it or not, this process works and makes really attractive quilts.

I try to do random, but I like it better when I can do light, med, dark, light, med, dark- only no two fabrics alike. It seems much more pleasing to my eye. Maybe try the system of dividing them up by light, med, dark values and put the pieces in paper bags then shake the bags to mix, and whichever piece you pull out it goes next. I think I saw Elenor Burns do this ???

Mostly I do what I call "organized scrappy" quilts. I've tried the pulling random fabrics out of the bag thing, but that doesn't work well for me! :D I'm more likely to plan it out on my design wall so I can see how I like the play of colors, values and patterns next to each other. It's a bit more work, but that's what works for me. :D

Oh, and congrats on the baby!!

I'm in the long drawn out process of making a king sized crazy quilt for my bed. All cotton, all scraps, all blues. I save small scraps and sew any two together that are different. Then toss them into a big box. Later when that box is full, I'll grab and sew, grab and sew, tossing THEM into another box. Then grab and sew them together till I have huge pieces and then will put the whole thing together. When I get to sizes of 15 inches or so, then I'll QAYG because of the size, then sew and quilt 2 inch reinforced pieces between each square, but these will also be crazy quilted. I try not to get the same pattern/color together.
    Clear as mud?
Anyway, it's my quilt and if I want it wild, it will go on my bed and I'll love it. So there!!
