    do they make templates with the quarter built in . I'm afraid to start cutting and it is not like the material is irreplacable butttttt i guess it is like watching your first surgery and the first cut

    yes, a 6 1/2 square ruler has your 1/4 built in 6+1/4 + 1/2 = 6 1/2. there are also 2 1/2 x 18 and other sizes.

    sorry, i meant 6 + 1/4 + 1/4 =6 1/2" square

    Yes, some templates have the seam allowances included. All the commercial ones I've seen have it clearly marked--some even have cutouts of it so you can mark reference points in the seam line like you do for clothing patterns.

    Which templates are you speaking of? If you can post a picture or link to them, someone will surely know.
