Question Placemat Quilting Design

I am working on a set of placemats and am stumped on the center to quilt this rectangle. I am not a good FMQ so something straight line or simple would work for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty placemat! I like to straight line quilt placemats so they lay nice and flat on my table. I find anything with scrolls or curves tend to stretch the fabric a bit and I get ripple along the edges. I might crosshatch (on the diagonal) on the center part following the angled corners. I then might straight line stitch out from the center at 1/2 inch intervals in repeated rows.

I think some wavy lines would look nice. Your placement is really pretty.

I would use my walking foot on the straight lines but do what works for you.

This is something I did a couple of years ago. I wonder if you could find some shape to go with the theme of the placemat and draw it onto some parchement paper.

I really like Tartan idea. Crosshatching will give the placemats strength and durability.
