What do you use for a quilt that needs plain white fabric for the sashing and background? Is there a quality fabric for this purpose that costs less than $9.50 per yard?

I have been known to double a thin white to make it work but it was a little more tricky. I can be cheap, i mean, frugal :)

I go to TJMaxx, Marshalls and Ross periodically, and look for king size sheets- a good quality long staple cotton at about 200-300 thread count, that feels nice. And buy all the white ones available.

I'm also chea.. frugal, yeah that's it, frugal.

I buy Kona solids from Jo-Anns or Hancocks when I have 50% coupons. It is what I would call a quality fabric and can get it for $2.99 with the coupon. I also buy a lot of the black and other colors atr this price.

the kona when you can find it on sale works very well. also depending on the pattern, blocks and fabric used already a nice tonal works really well.

I don't normally use solids, I like Tone on tones far better. The few times I have used solids, Kona seems to be one of the better fabrics. Our Hancocks and Joanns both have it.
