Another idea if you are interested, I just ordered the Deal-of-the-day from MSQC and then went to Youtube, to refresh my library of pattern ideas. Jenny does a couple tuts , one is using three strips to a set then cut squares (3 Duds) and the other one is Summer in the Garden, where you make a tube and then cut diamonds....just some additional ideas.
Yes that is a real picture of my hometown Temecula, California. We feature premiere Wineries, World Class Golf Courses, Pechanga Indian Casino and Hot Air Balloons

It is amazing I love h rail fence. I am surprised at the colours . When I have a jelly roll only have 2 stripes of each pattern/colour and could not make this.
If you donot like it when it is finished will look great in my kitchen

Don't abandon it, just fly with it, like cut the 8 1/2 " squares at a diagonal and fracture them and resew together . If you are an abstract type of artist , you could get funky with them. Maybe even create something new out of a classic rail fence block. I do this sometimes when I'm not excited about a look.

I really like what you've done; not too bright at all.
