First, check to see whether your machine lets you adjust the foot pressure. Some of the new machines have a few different settings to accomodate especially thick or especially thin fabrics.

If you have a walking foot (even-feed foot) try using that, too.

If you can't adjust the pressure, or if adjusting doesn't help, try putting paper underneath your layers as you feed them through.

If you're sewing fleece to fleece and using paper underneath doesn't work, try putting the paper on top (making sure to line up the edges of the paper and fabric so you can maintain the proper seam allowance). As a last resort, try sandwiching both layers between two pieces of paper. You might need to pin it all in place first. (Or iron strips of freezer paper along the edges. If you have to apply it to both layers, you'll probably still need to pin first.)

I guess you could also try using a darning foot - as though you were doing freemotion machine quilting. I could probably never pull that off because I couldn't keep the seam allowance even, but you might have a steadier eye and hand than I do.

If push comes to shove, stitch by hand. A lot slower, but it'll get the job done. ;-)

I know it will sound silly but... Are your feed dogs up?

How do I know this? Yep. Tried and tried to sew and nothing would work. Dumb machine! Ha! More like "Dump operator!" Once the feed dogs were raised it worked a charm!!! Didn't have to go to the repair shop at all. Thank goodness I figured it out before it cost me a service fee!!!!

I made 10 fleece blankets last year for the grands and my husband. I used my walking foot. Once I got them seamed I could go back with the double needle to decoration along the edges and my zigzag foot.
It takes a lot of patience to work with, but it's good looking and wearing stuff. When I made the two youngest granddaughters jackets out of it, they loved them and the zippers went in easily. I think the weight has something to do with it, don't y'all?

I have a Janome 315. The feed dogs don't drop on mine, I have to cover them. When I tried to sew with fleece I had to resort to a walking foot. I could not fit two pieces under my machine without one or the other sliding all over the place. It seems the space between the foot and the feed dogs was too narrow. It depends on the thickness of the fleece too. Let us know if you get it figured out!
