I have read so many posts about thangles, and I thought that I could figure out what everyone was talking about, but have finally decided to just jump out here and show off my ignorance. Can someone please explain just what they are, can you make them, do you buy them? Any words of advice or info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A thangle is a strip of paper with sewing and cutting lines to make half square triangles. You can buy them in a variety of sizes. To use them you cut out a strip that the Thangle requires and sew with a shorter stitch length. Then you tear off the sewn paper and voila!
I don't like them at all. I got sucked into buying some with a quilt shop and have them stored. I like the fons and porter half and quarter ruler much better.

Thangles are one of many paper tools that allow you to make half-square triangles. You can check out more info on Thangles at their website: http://www.thangles.com/

Click on the section above titled "search" and enter the word "Thangles" and you will find an explaination. I didn't know what it was either and just looked it up myself.

I bought a package of each size. What a sucker I was because I still can't figure out how to use them...

This is similar to a Thangle. http://www.blockcentral.com/hst/hst-1inch.pdf

The directions for it's use are very well worded. Sew on the dotted lines, then cut on the solid. A thangle is one long strip that comes on a roll like toilet paper. Use what you need, but don't waste. (sorry about the comparison.) These come in different sizes, and you can find them at www.blockcentral.com
I will never, ever try to make HST or QST without them again. :D

http://www.blockcentral.com/hst/hst-1inch.pdf Go here to print them off for free. Other sizes are there for the taking as well.

I just did a bunch for a batik triangle exchange. I loved it! I have a hard time doing them otherwise cause I don't see well.
