I am in the process of designing a quilt & can't figure out which looks best, no up & down sashing, just black, or black with yellow cornerstones?
I'm putting a 1/2" black boarder before piano keys of the prints. Help, I have to decide right away, I'm in the mood to sew! Thanks for the input.

With yellow cornerstones

No sashing, imagine black (actually navy blue)

I usually prefer sashing, but this is one I like better without one.

I am not sure I could give advice but I really like the yellow cornerstones with that black. Very pretty quilt.

I have to agree with this, and I'm also someone that usually likes a sashing. Will be interesting to see what others say.

Here's my opinion.

I would use white for the border not black & go with no sashing.

I like without the sashing this time. I too usually like it better with sashing, but this quilt is so nice without it.

I can see how this would be a hard decision, it looks great either way. If you decide to go without the sashing will you place a border? If yes, what color? And what if you do sashing with yellow squares, are you planning a border?

Duh, I just reread your post about your planned borders. It will still be beautiful either way, I do like the little pop of yellow squares. Good luck, show us your end result.

I see you have a very narrow blue sashing between your blocks in your vertical rows. I think if you stayed with that size sashing it would look great!

That is a strikingly beautiful quilt as is. I wouldn't put any sashings in it. If you need to add something to increase the size, then add it to the borders. Add a narrow yellow border, then a wider black to finish.

I see there are 20 or so suggestions from 20 or so people. It's all up to you now! Please post pictures of this when you are finished. It is lovely.
