I also love Bonnie Hunter's scrappy patterns, she is so good to provide them free on her site.

But I think just the fact that you care about your ex's daughter and would make her a quilt says alot about you.
Certainly not terrible to want to make a great quilt for her and let your talent shine!

Good luck with your choice of quilt pattern you choose. I am sure she will love and cherish it no matter which one you choose.

The best revenge is to do really well after he is gone. I hope you find a really great pattern, make a fabulous quilt and he turns permanently green with envy.

YES! The disappearing 4 patch looks like so much work and small piecing, but it's so easy, really. I think it looks terrific, too. You can find the tutorial in a search here, if you don't know how to do it.

Your Irish Chain in your avatar is beautiful. How about a scrappy Irish Chain? I believe there is a pattern on Quiltville. And by the way, you're not terrible.

I would like to add Warm Wishes to your choice of simple patterns to consider.

I made one just to have a quilt ready to try different quilt designs on. It took less than a week from start to finish and I work full time outside the home.
