I would have to agree. YOu can look and see where some are definite blocks, then small pieces were added to say " fill in the blanks." This looks like the way I like to make up quilts I call it DAUG. (design as us go ). Good luck. I think if you at least grasp the concept she would like it.

This is book 3 of Turning Twenty, "Turning Twenty Around the Block". This is probably more suited as it is designed for both horizontal and vertical embroidery designs.
