I would like to learn how to do a Kaleidoscope quilt. For those of you who have made one - how did you learn and did you like that method? I love a challenge and can follow a book, but from searching the internet I didn't find anything that jump out at me.

I see so many pretty ones one here.

I made this one, and if you wish I can send you a link one where to learn to make it. This is one large image, not many blocks put together. If one you want is smaller blocks, search for a One Block wonder or Stack and Whack. Those are smaller kaleidoscopes.

I learned by help on this board. I started with 4 identical squares, stacked on top of each other, cut them corner to corner to make 4 triangles. Presto, a new design. So then I went to 8 idential squares, did the same thing as the 4 triangles, but then cut those in half. I was just playing, but I'm making both of those into a wall hanging, and also a lap quilt. On the lap quilt I used fabric that I didn't think I'd ever used it again. It was so old I didn't even remember what I made with it.

I used Brittany Reynolds Stack and Whack method. She has a couple of books and she also has the directions on the internet. Just google. Brittany Reynolds or Stack & Whack and you should get a few tips

Here's a nice little tute from Dunster just a few days ago!

I'd also like to know more about how she pieced and made it. Dunster? Care to do a tute? I'll give her a shout. OK, I contacted her. So we'll see!

Yes, This is what I would call a Kaleidoscope... Not just a pinwheel.

There are many patterns that are called kaleidoscopes. Ricky Tims Kool Kaleidoscope pattern, stack-and-whack kaleidoscopes, OBW's, and the classic kaleidoscope, to name just a few. Which one are you interested in?
