I have a simple question here, I was asked to make a family quilt for my mother inlaw. She is polish and has a love for polish pottery. I have an idea that I want to share, I would like to do a dresden plate block for each corner, my thought was looking for fabric that looked something like the patterns on the pottery. Then I thought, hmmm it's going to be hung on the wall, maybe I should just hand paint some fabric myself to match her set? What are your ideas folks?

I think that would be FABULOUS. I have Polish Pottery and to have the pattern repliated in fabric would be divine. Think about stamping the fabric - much in the way the pottery is made.

I would say hand paint as it might be impossible to find a commercially available pattern to go with the pottery - Sounds great - hope you will post a pic when completed!

I'm not sure what her pattern is but mine is the Lattice. I plan on making stamps out of gum erasers and free hand what I can. This is my pattern of Polish pottery, I am so afraid to use it till ALL the kids are out of the house.

Hi! I don't know what polish pottery was till I looked it up on the net and have fallen in love with the blues and greens that are used. That shade of blue is one of my favorites and would love having anything in polish pottery. I like the idea of stamping but I've also seen fabrics that would resemble the pottery. Chris

What a wonderful idea...in fact I think you have a few of us thinking about Polish pattern quilts or fabric!
