Well, I am using my blackberry right now and I must say I like the mobile version now. Still like the old site better, but glad I can read the larger text on my phone now, and the mobile page with the buttons for each section is really nice thanks!

Can I just say my favorite thing about this new board is I can get a preview of the post simply by hovering over the title. I think that is SO. AWESOME. This makes it way easier to avoid generically-titled topics that I have no interest in!

Like I said, it's less about board features for me now and more about the overmoderation and the rude people who are saying things like "if we lose a few whiners that's fine with me".

To answer your specific question, this is the rule that has always been on this board as long as I have been here. It isn't a new rule.

Yes, my friends. First we had to get over the shock of it all, we vented, shut it off and came back to try again. It does get better everytime I come back. This site is worth learning. At the age of 68 I know I still have lots to learn, thank God that I still can. I hope the staff will have patience when we post at the wrong places, we will get better. I want to give the IS staff a big group hug for all they had to endure in a short few days. This is a new beginning and all good things are worth working for. Tomorrow is another day, it will get better.

I know there are a few step by step comments on different threads where people are trying to help others, If we could just put up a sticky as a reference and/or Q&A area where everyone knows to go to one spot. It may already be there I haven't checked yet tonight.

YES! I looked at the unhappies and at the "give it a chance" and wanted to suggest a "How To" page for all of us who aren't very computer savy to begin with. But I lost (I know I saw it) where you go to start a new thread. PLEASE, can we have a posting of questions and answers. Here are a couple to start with....

How to start a new post. Why couldn't I copy the quilts in the contest (the final "g" was left off the file name, why?)?

I know we'll settle in and have the warm fuzzy and informative postings again. But a "cheat sheet" to help us who are
a wee bit slower would be great.

Don't leave because of the changes, I'm helping others try to find things, or how to do things. I'm not a Moderator but I'm willing to try and help take some of the pressure off the Mods to take questions and see if we can all help each other out.

Along with the announcement, Patrice posted a downloadable page of "old term=new term" things and six consecutive FAQ documents, the last of which is 11 pages long. The glossary and the last FAQ are still on the announcement page. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...ml#post4585469

In addition, there are now help videos http://www.quiltingboard.com/resourc...ideos-230.html
and an entire QB Help Center http://www.quiltingboard.com/qb-help-center-f27/

No one has said you are on your own and Patrice and the Mods are breaking their necks to help get members acclimated, along with everyone else who is sharing whatever they have learned so far. The developers are changing things as fast as they can and continue to make amazing progress on an hourly basis.

The universal thing that binds this community together is that none of us is ever "on our own" in anything...not ever...and that's exactly what makes us so strong.

I must again say that I am learning this new format and loving all the cool added features.

On the one hand, I understand the frustration of learning something new, and the change indeed is big, but come oney'all, it is not a life or death situation, lets keep things in prespective. The same day the new format launched, people starting complaining and threatening of leaving, well, the way I see it, we all are still in tranistion period, as is the board itself, developers are still tweaking, adjusting and cleanning bugs, and surely all the negativity is not helping anyone with anything. We all have our reasons for being part of the board, if you feel that the change has taken away your reason, then by all means do try to find a different hang out for you that meets your need. But the way I see it, members are here, we still have the abiliaty to share posts, photos, swap and chit chat, so really, we just need to get used to something new. If it is too much for you to handle right now, maybe stay away for a week or so, bugs will be worked out hopefully, and you can come in, find the help center, download the information, study it a bit a go from there. I just personally don't understand all of the negativity, and after all remeber that we don't pay a thing, so other than our contributions that we choose to make, the board doesn't owe us a thing. And one last thing, all the "other" quilting baords out there that I have seen have this same format, so if you go somewhere else you will still have to learn it. So lets all make lemoande

As for people leaving to go to other boards I checked a lot of boards out before I came here, I'd interact and ask questions and no one answered me. Here I feel like everyone's kind of like my extended family that I look forward to talking to each day. If some leave I think we will see them come back because there's not much out there.
I was thinking it would be really nice to be paired up with one person to "hold my hand" while trying to find my way around.

I think many of the tips will be from the members learning from each other!
