You mean using jelly rolls? Isn't it pieced with strips then cut?

Yes, I think so but I can not find a layout for this pattern with the paths of brown and the varying fabrics in each trip.

Bonnie Hunter on www.quiltville.com has the pattern and also Eleanor Burns. Google her for her website.

It would probably be like the twist and turn Bargello. You can sew the strips but may have to unsew a few.

I was thinking of a bargello variation as well. Time consuming in the beginning but once you get it laid out, should go a bit more quickly than all those little squares????

ETA: But you still have to cut all those little squares and lay it out. Not sure that is your goal. Just my thoughts.

Once you cut the center squares I don't know why you couldn't do like a log cabin where you sew & then trim from strips, rather than cutting individual squares. You'd just have to figure out how many strips of each color

I was going to suggest using the pattern Prism99 recommended, and just leave one row off every other block - would be easy to do scrappy, too if you pick 5 colors!
