Yes. There are times I know I have "too much" stash. Problem is it isn't all quilt stash. Some is for clothing some is for re-creation clothing/costumes and so on.
Currently I usually only buy for something specific. And that is usually samples for classes I am going to teach.(the shops prefer to have current fabrics/colors on display. Not always, but generally.)
Right now I am also doing some work for the shop where I teach most. New owner, new shop arrangement and such. I am trying to sort/arrange/organize the pattern section of the store. sigh. and getting paid in Store Credit. <G> That will cover most of my new fabric buying for the next several months. )

Oh, BTW, you all need to check out Connecting Threads. New website, and some wonderful new lines of fabrics... at low prices. Solids and "mirage"(sort of marbled) colors that will be around for a while. New batiks. and new pricing. Sorry, but I had to get some one else to drool over the "not-now-because-I-am-trying-to-not-buy-fabric" fabric. <
:-D

Have fun,
Pati, in Phx
My husband says I need the bumper sticker that says "I'm winning"......................

I dont have a huge stash.. but give me time :) I did add to mine the other day with the cutest material .. that I did not go into my local Fabric and Quilt shop for , of course not. lol
I saw two bolts and said I have to have some of each. One fabric had bolts of fabric on it... the other had spools of thread.. now how could you pass that up?

I like that idea, and once I get down to a year's worth I think I'll do that! LOL

I have gotten myself into quite a mess too. By some people's stash, I do not have that much, but it is really bugging me. I have eleven projects in various stages. Also I have a large drawer full of kits and projects that I have not even started. I told myself that I am not going to the qs unless I really need something for a current project. I have done very well. Oh I do get the itch from time to time, then I take a look in my sewing room.

I am trying to grow my collection of cottons, patterns and kits, I am going to start quilting for a charity here in the city that gives the quilts to the hospitals and such. If you have cottons, patterns or kits you would like to donate to me for helping out with this that would be greatley appreciated.
Thanks so much!

MY cousin was a big collector of fabric to the extent of not having room for company or herself. Well she passed away a year ago and I got some of her fabric and so did her fiends and church. Anyway I promised myself I would not do this. I found out if is easy to buy fabric and it is hard not to buy.I will have some stash but not over board. It is addicting but it is better to collect fabric then alcohol or gambling. We have a nice product to show off!!

I have just washed my last installment of fabric all 25+ meters of it. Now I am fighting the wind trying to keep it on the line long enough to get it dry.
