OK all those who have made pot holders before, do you put just the layer of insul-bright batting in the center, or do you put a second layer of regular batting in there also? Would love your help.

from what i have read around here, most people use 2 layers of warm & natural with the insulbrite.
should be careful using polyesters, they can melt when over heated and put off noxious fumes.

yes, I used 1 layer of insulbrite between 2 layers of cotton batting. I made sure the shiny side of the insulbrite was facing the side of the potholder that will be closest to the heat (that's what the instructions said to do) :)

I too use 1 layer of insubrite with 1 to 2 layers of warm and natural batting. Either way, they came out great.

I don't know what the big deal is with insulbrite it is NOT oven proof or HEAT proof. Google it it says so with the description. It is poly and adds insulation and you still have to use batting along with it. I would rather use 2-3 layers of 100% cotton batting and that wouldn't melt if it gets too hot.

and i use 2 layers of insulbrite - shiny sides facing out. they are heat resistant - not heat proof.
