pot holders look like pickle jar

I need help with the pickle jar pot holder. I just can't seem to get the "lid" of the jar as to how it is attached.
Do you so it on to the fabric before making the sandwich.l
I'm so frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It was on the threads newsletter few weeks ago. was fabric with sliced pickles on it and brown lid but I don't know how to find it not too computer literate sorry. Measurements were 7" x 7 1/2" but no instructions on how to assemble the darn thing. I just loved it.
