Default Potholder question

I've decided to try to redeem some recent cutting mistakes by making potholders. I ordered some of the Insul-Bright batting but it won't be here for a while. One pattern I saw uses a double layer of terrycloth towel as insulation - do you think that would be enough? I'd hate to have anyone get burned, but I'd like to get started.

Thanks! I will be cutting more carefully from now on!

I have pot holders, but it seems like I'm always just using a doubled up kitchen towel instead. Haven't burned myself yet, so I would guess a double layer of terrycloth would be just fine. Just make sure that it is 100% cotton.

I was just on another similar thread. I tried insulbright and i do not like it. It is too stiff in my opinion. I think I will use old towels from now on and maybe add a layer of cotton batting on both sides.

i have some store bought pot holders that has one side shorter so i can slip my hand inside. they feel like thick terry cloth with nothing else. they work fine. look at some in the stores.

I use old towel for potholder "insides" all the time. I use old mattress pads, old sweatshirts, all kinds of stuff goes in the middle of my potholders.
