I have been enjoying all of your wonderful information, suggestions and beautiful work for some time now and I have finally decided to ask for help.
I have a sewing machine set up on a frame and I have managed to successfully quilt several tops using various all-over pantograph patterns.
My question is, do you think an all-over pattern would work on the Lone Star quilt? I have searched the internet (Google Images for example) and have not seen one quilted that way. I would love some imput. Thanks.

You will probably get several different opinions & that is great. If we didn't all have different ideas, then quilting might be too conforming for some of us. What ever you decide...I think it will look fine. Be sure & share your photos!! I wouldn't have any problems with meandering or stippling or a pantograph pattern on a Lone Star quilt. My Tumbling Blocks that I posted on this quilt board has all over stippling & I don't think it detracts from the design?

Welcome! The large expanses of the filler triangles are a nice spot to show off fancy stitching, but I think all the pretty piecing might be overwhelmed. The same geometric gridding of ditch-quilting the diamonds would be boring in larger blank areas.

Perhaps doing the "press 'n' Seal trick would help you decide. Cover area in plastic wrap, then draw design on and see if you like it. Faster yet, take a picture and doodle right on the picture.

Pam and Moonpi, thanks you so much for your encouragement. I have a feather pattern picked out and will quilt it with invisible thread and I think all I needed was an opinion or two. Thanks again. I will start it today and with any luck I'll be done and send a picture soon.
