I tried prewashing wool batting and I just got holy wool. Didn't put it in anything. So how do you "shrink" your batting (before you stick it in a quilt)?

I don't shrink batting but others do. I've never had problems using it as is.

I read somewhere to spritz it with a water bottle, but I have never done this...

I always pre-wash my batting as I do not like that shrunken look to my finished quilts. But am I getting this right? it was wool batting?

I am not sure how to do that. Wool batting is not stable until quilted,

How do you pre-shrink your cotton? Do you put it in something? What?

When I preshrink batting I fill the washer with hot water and stop it so it doesn't do anything. Then I push the batting down with a stick until it's all wet. I let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes and then I turn it to spin.

Never let it agitate.

As far as I know you don't. They don't fill with enough water to soak the batting for one thing and I don't know if you can disrupt the cycle to keep it from washing.

If I had a front loader I would either use Quilter's Dream Poly if I didn't want the crinkled look or I'd go to one of my friend's house and borrow her top loader.

do whatever it is you do do skip the agitation or rolling, I don't use any soap, just a hot or real warm soak, spin and dry.
I know from experience that you don't put wool in the dryer, of course it was already a quilt when I did it so my mom unquilted it for me so I could redo it.
