I have an older model New Home SX2122 model (1989). I am going to take a class on machine quilting, but I don't have the correct presser feet for my machine. I was told I need to buy a walking foot (aka quilting foot) and a darning or free motion foot. Does anyone know of a trusted site to buy these online?

Hi, Nancy's Notions carries generic presser feet. Her web site is nancysnotions.com and her phone is 800-833-0690. You need to know if your machine requires a low or high shank foot. That means how high the foot attaches to your machine.
Have a good time at your class. Just remember that machine quilting isn't learned in a day. You need to practice, practice and practice, but it's worth it.

also, if you cant' find what you need from Nancy's try Clotilde's they carry feet too.
i was pretty upset when i took a class and was told i had to have a walking foot in order to take the class; i had just recently purchased my Viking Designer one...so i called the shop about the foot, they said, of course they had one and would take the order over the phone and send it to me...THEY CHARGED $89 for that walking foot!!! then my daughter comes in having just bought one for her maching (from Nancy's...$12.95!!!) exact same foot!!! i tried to return the one i bought but they would not let me, so i keep it visible at all times...a reminder that i should ALWAYS shop around, and NEVER just buy from the dealer, because they tell you you should. and the worst thing about it, i used it once in a 2 hour class and have never used it since, it has sat there in it's box, with the price tag on it for the past 5 years...collecting dust.

Please keep in mind that to some people a quilting foot is actually a quarter inch foot, not the walking foot. so make sure to ask what their "walking foot" does.

And for a generic free motion foot I love my "Big Foot"

I got mine at www.sewshop.com. It is the website for Mulqueen Sewing & Vacuum Centers, four locations right there in Arizona. It might be a place you want to go visit in person!
