Default Pressure Bar Adjustment?

Is there a way to tighten a pressure bar on vintage machines? I have a 117-959 Kenmore made in either 1947 or 1948. The pressure bar wiggles a little from left to right causing the needle to hit the then misaligned foot thus breaking the needle. Just wondering if there is a way to fix this easily or not.

I looked on my FW and 301. There is a screw on the top of the machine on the left side towards the back. Try that, I think it's for the pressure of the pressure foot.

Thanks for the response and I do have the pressure bar adjustment screw also but that doesn't affect the tighness of the pressure bar... just the downward pressure. Mine wiggles left/right. Might be a sign of more serious problem but it sews nice as long as I don't use thicker fabrics that twist the pressure foot causing it to be out of alignment with the needle and feed dogs.

Check your settings. Could you have it on a small zig-zag setting with the wrong foot? You could also try the Vintage Machine section, there are lots of people there that could help you.
