Do you think I need to prewash when making a purse? I only bought EXACTLY what I needed, so I'm afraid to prewash....It's cotton material.

if it is a color that may bleed you should at least test- if the purse will not be washed it will probably be fine- but if the colors are not stable even rain can make a mess of things.

Not at all. I do the same thing. My theory is that I can easily wash a quilt after its all together, but a purse is harder. Especially if I put something rigid in the bottom for support.

I do because I think the fusibles stick better after the fabric is washed.

I have never pre-washed purse fabric. I don't have a problem with the fusible fleece sticking either. I do throw a color catcher in the wash and have never had a problem. I had a friend give me some blend Hawaiian fabric to make a couple bags with and I used cotton with it. They turned out great. Do what you feel comfortable with. Everyone is differen't.
