Price charge for hand quilting
#2
You could google prices hand quilted quilts and there will be stuff come up. The one group I quilt w/ charges by the foot of thread. I couldn't keep track of that, too difficult....
Personally, I enjoy the handquilting, so doing it for others is a way for me to get my "fix", and someone gets a treasure. I just finished a bit smaller than a twin size coverlet that was about 25% done when I got it and got $100 for it. But, the woman was also a senior citizen on a limited income. Her mom had started the quilt years ago and the joy, appreciation, and total gratitude was 10 times more worth the dollars that she gave me.
You'll never get your time paid for, but have fun!

Hello Becca and thank you for your answer!
I'd read about being paid per yards of thread,
“(…) in 1942 they quilted (for raising money for their church, in Pennsylvania) for one cent per yard of thread! (The quilt, a history and celebration of an American art form. Elise Schebler Roberts, Voyageur Press, p. 187)”
Very interesting!
I agree with you, I love quilting and I’ll also make it to enjoy!
Have a nice day and happy quilting!
Patricia

some people charge by square inch of quilt- some charge by the amount of thread- some charge by the time/design (generally very experienced who know what it's going to take)
location & experience matters
check around with other hand-quilters to see what they charge then decide what you feel your time is worth- what is fair- what you need to charge.
