Default Price of Janome 7700 (Horizon)

Talked to a Janome dealer today. He has a demo Horizon for $1950. Said it's had a spool of thread through it, so hasn't been used much. Been on the floor since early November. Brand new machine he's selling for $3000 and includes a Horn 6 way chair, the table with it, the spool stand, a Horizon bag, and something about a quilt table. What should I do? I have an 11000 which I wanted to trade in but he's not interested. I just don't like the 11000, it's too much machine for me. I would actually rather have the Brother PE770 Looking for advice. Thanks!

I think $1950 is a fair price for the Horizon, but make sure you like the dealer and you'll get the support/lessons you want with the machine. I bought my Horizon new for not much more than that, but that was 6 months ago. I haven't really followed the pricing since, so maybe someone else here will know if that's fair for today. I would also take some thread and fabric in and demo the machine for myself. Make sure you like it before you buy. I don't know about the Brother other than I've always heard they are good machines. Good luck deciding!

Can't help you with the decision regarding the Brother...don't know much about them.But...I have a Janome 6600 and it sews well for me. I do have some issues with the way it starts sometimes (like an old lady in the dead of winter who hates cold weather!) but as I said, it sews well once it's on its way. Good luck with your choice.

You most likely wont be happy with the Horizon if you really want the Brother. I have a Janome 6500 and love it. My sister has the horizon. If you purchase it because it seems like a really great price even though you would prefer something, you will always seem to find thinking I wish I had gotten what I really wanted. I have learned the hard way, buy what you really want not what you think is a better deal.

Wow. I can't believe he wouldn't take the 11000 in on trade!

get what you really want not what is on sale. it is not like food or other products. you are investing a lot of money into a machine you will hopefully be using every day.

I agree with QuiltingKrazy very much. Get the machine your heart wants. I got the Horizon for Christmas. $2499 plus tax. Wanted the 6600 Janonme. Do have the Horizon finally out of the box today and up on table. Have yet to turn it on. Dealer and hubby talked me into the Horizon. Will see how I like it one day.

If you get everything listed for that price plus the machine, I would have bought it on the spot. Sounds like a great deal to me.

I agree with Jingle. I would have bought it on the spot. In fact I did. I went to a quilt show and bought mine. I've been using the Horizon for about 2 months. Previously had the 6500 Janome. Both great machines, but I love this one. I don't know about the brother, because I'm a Janome "girl". this is my 4th Janome...working my way up...and I have loved them all. No tension problems, simple to use.

I agree with that. When my Pfaff died and I wanted a new machine, the nearest dealer was over 60 miles away. I stayed here in town, and got a Janome 6600. It's a good machine and I'm gradually getting use to the way it works. But I think there may allways be a tiny "maybe I should have driven the 60 miles."
