Does anyone subscribe to or buy this magazine? I'm thinking about purchasing a couple of issues but at $9.99 each I want to make sure that it will be something I like. I'm just starting to get into Primitive Quilts.

I've been quilting for a few years but I have yet to do any applique or embroidery. I am also interested in rug hooking but I've never done any of that either.

Thoughts?

It is hard to suggest a magazine to someone else... We all have different likes, tastes, and there are sooo many different magazines out there LOL
Maybe check them out online? Usually if you see enough of their covers, you can get a pretty good feel of what is inside too :D:D:D

What magazine? You didn't say the name. I love primitive quilted wall hangings and runners. I also really like ornies. They are so much fun to make.

the magazine is new- hasn't been out long- it seems to have a variety of projects- good articles to read-and of course resources that always come in handy.
at that price i would pick up 1 and read it cover to cover to decide if it is one i would like to have - would use regularly (get my money's worth out of it)then- if i did want to get it- think i would use it's contents alot- i would check into a subscription which (could) bring the newstand price down by (alot-sometimes 1/2)

My experience with magazines is they recycle their content regularly with new titles. There is only so much new under the sun (Ecclesiastes said nothing is new, but I think he was depressed!)
I think buy an issues or peruse it at Barnes and Noble with a pastry! What makes quilts primitive?

Are you looking at hooking wool rugs with 1/4" scrap strips? I thought it was a dead art. I learned that from my grandmother and I have a WIP I inherited. In ignorance back in the 70's I did a lot of the pattern (Tree of Life) in polyester clothes I cut up - like pant suits, shudder. Now - still on her wood frame - the wool looks faded but the polyester shines on. Ugh. Of course, that frame would be perfect if I could sit still long enough to hand quilt. :-D :-D :-D

I subscribe to this magazine and I love it. I have already made one of the projects and am gathering wool for another. There is lots of applique using both cotton fabric and wool. There are patterns for quilts, wall hangings, table toppers, rugs, pillows, teddy bears, cross stitch (fall issue) If you like primitives, you will like this magazine.

I have not seen this magazine at Barnes and Noble just at fabric stores that carry the primitive look fabric.

The summer issue (first one) had lots of errors in it and those corrections are on their website. So far the fall issue doesn't have any errors.

Thanks! This is exactly the information that I was looking for. We don't have any quilt shops that carry the primitive supplies or fabrics so I have not seen the magazine in person. I have so many patterns and projects on deck (don't we all!) but I just can't resist this one. I am going to go ahead and the summer and fall issues. Even I end up not being too into it I have a friend that has primitive decor and I can make gifts for her.

I really like your pillow - very cute. I like small projects like this that I can get my feet wet with.

I subscribes to it and really enjoy it. I don't particularly do primitives but I really enjoy reading it and the patterns in it will come in handy for other things as well.

I haven't seen a single 'bad' review on it! :)
