I'm working on stuff that doesn't require cutting today so good opportunity to clean my 4 year old matt. I've done quick heals - (wash, rub, scrape) but never a "deep" healing.

I laid the mat out, wet several dish towels and laid them on top. I'll leave it like that for about an hour or so.

Will let you all know how it comes out. Darn ... wish I had taken a before picture.

How is it coming? Won't the wetness warp the mat? I have one that can use some shaping up, but will wait until you are done. No need for messing it up before you are finished.

Done. I think I had the towels on there for two + hours. Note: I used room temperature water - not hot water as I didn't want warpage. I don't have any warpage in my mat at all from this experiment.

It helped. Not a tremendous amount, but it definately helped.

Mine is an Omnigrid btw.

Thanks, I have an Olfa. Will give it a try next week.

There are a number of threads on this issue here...I think many people filled their bathtubs/shower to a level a bit above the matt and let is soak overnight. Try doing a search on this topic as I believe it will help you.
