I use the sandpaper dots underneath my ruler so it doesn't slip.

I am thinking of making a strips quilt, where you sew strips on to a muslin square, and then at the end, trim the square. I really want to try to get rid of some of my scraps! Has anyone done this, and can provide some advice? Thanks in advance!

yes, all the time. it's called a crazy quilt or strip quilt. You can sew strips in any direction without regard to grain as long as you're sewing to a foundation. if you have small scraps cut your foundation 4-6" - larger if your scraps are larger.

I had a DFIL, dear father in law, whom I loved very much and will always think of him and miss him. I also had a NSDMIL, not so dear mother in law, who, when she died at age age 87, caused celebration for me and my DDs (dear daughters). DH,dear husband, had mixed feelings and he found it convenient to forget the many times she was an interfering witch and hurt the DDs.

So much for acronyms.

Thanks Pickles for the tip of using masking tape to pull threads out of a reopened seam. Great idea and one I will pass on to my quilt group and most happily use myself. BarbM32

YES, you can sew them on the diaginol in squares going in 2 different directions, or 4 forming a larger sq or slice them in half and sew in different direction or in in triangles and sew with different triangles, oblong and put together say a 4 x5.7.9 " any size you want. wide stripes or narrow, straight across, up and down or diaginol what every your heart desires.
You can use paper for back ground instead of muslin, or any old fabrice you don't know what to with just be careful that the background color does not come thru. I'm sorry is it diagonal or diaginol can't remember and can't find dictionary
