I'm looking for a tool ..looks like a half inch button with one hole in the middle. You stick a pencil in the hole and run it along
the edge of somthing and it makes a mark at 1/4 inch..Saw one at a meeting ,been searching for one for a long time. Hope somone has some info....ssuzz |
The description reminds me of spirograph!

I have one...but I don't have any idea where it is right now...
Hope someone else will have it... I works great to add seam allowance to a pattern |
I have one. I think I ordered it from either Nancy's Notions or Keepsake Quilting. I don't think I've ever used it. It's easier to take a ruler and mark another 1/4 inch line.

Is it like a small copper washer with a hole in the middle.
They are great for adding seam allowance to odd shaped pieces when using a template. They were (and may still be) available in 1/8", 1/4" and some larger sizes. |
It's called the Quilter's Wonder Wheel:

it amazes me .just ask a question and up pops an answer

If you take two pencils and rubber band them next to each other you will get two pencil lines that are 1/4" apart. You can trace around curves or straight line. Works great and it cheap and available.
Hope this helps. |
I learn more stuff on this board! Who knew??
|
I have one also, somewhere. It was given to me last year at the quilt fest in Houston. I will look for it as I have never used it. If I find it I will let you know.

This is so odd my mom just showed me one on Saturday and asked if I had ever heard of or seen such a thing, I said no. And here comes a thread asking about them. looked like it would easily get lost it is so tiny and more work than a ruler.

I have tried the 2 pencil thing . If you shave a bit off the pencils you get pretty close to 1/4 inch but it changes depending on how sharp your pencils are.. ssuzz

wouldn't a washer the right size work?
I will have to go search out hubby's workshop and try it out! |
