1600 Quilt top Advise needed!

I have a jelly roll Moda Twirl and Moda Marbles jelly roll too. I want to make this quilt with the small squares. I will be cutting the strips into the different lengths to make it look a bit different. So, my question is, I'd like to add these small squares to it out of the Moda Marbles. Will that make the quilt look to busy? Should I just stick with one color for the small squares or use more? Or just leave out the small squares all together. Then, where would I place the small squares?
I am a newbie and really need the help! I don't have that ability to look at the fabric and *know* what the finished quilt will look like.
Thanks

I have seen the quilts like that. 1600 quilt with a 2.5"x2.5" square between the strips. The one I saw had red squares and they really popped out. This could be something the designer was aiming for, I don't know. If you use the squares I would use one color and I would pick the color that goes with the rest of the fabrics.

My friend did a 1600 quilt with squares, and it looked really cute. She used one color for the squares (red), and I think she put one in between every single strip. She used the red in the border also, it really tied the whole quilt together.

believe me, the ability to look at the fabric and know what the finished quilt will look like eludes a while lot of us. Can you google 1600 Moda jellyroll and see if you can find pictures of other quilts? Maybe someone here can direct you to images. Have fun and post pictures of the completed quilt

I like the one color square add to the 1600 quilt.

This one is from a quilter here on the board, I'm sure there are others...

I would use one color for the blocks. Be careful about cutting the strips different lengths sometimes that doesn't work real well.
I attaching the binding to a Christmas lasagna quilt and appliqued a large tree on it. I'll try to post a picture when it is done. Also need a new picture since that baby has now turned 2!!!!

Thanks for the advise. I think on this one I'll leave out the squares.
