1930's style 9 patch

I've started a queen size 9 patch for my guest room bed. I've finished sewing the 9 patches together and had a great day sewing and listening to old rock and roll...1960's and 70's artists such as Rod Stewart, Beatles, Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel etc. Just a wonderful day!

The other fabrics for blocks, setting triangles and borders are yellows and oranges.

OK, girl....we grew up in the same era.... love your music and I listen to the same stuff...but also like so much more, depending on what I'm working on. Graduated in 65.
Love your blocks and need to do something simple like that sometime...too much going on right now tho...looking forward to some "quiet time" , just me and "ESSIE" and some good fabrics and no pressure!
Been a tough "end of the year" here. To many obligations, brother passes away suddenly, cousin passes away, open-"Open House" for this neighborhood and our church and friends and acquaintences and etc....and all the church goings ons and etc.....WHEW! What happened to PEACE and goodwill? Decorations are still up and may be til April at this pace! LOL
I need a retreat badly!!!!

Have fun with your colorful blocks! They look really happy to me - and spring is just around the corner - right?

You have the makings of a lovely quilt there. I usually listen to books on tape while I sew. I just bought some 30's fabric too, and am looking forward to making something from it.

I love the simplicity and old fashioned look of your quilt. Makes me want to get up and sew one myself. Thanks for sharing.

I love your quilt so far. I have yet to make a quilt with these fabrics but have been wanting to. I just customer quilted a beautiful 30's king size quilt that my sister-in-law made for her daughter. That really makes me want to make a 30's quilt--which I will be doing at the 2012 Block of the Month at my LQS. I am excited to do it. They are doing the Block of the Month in 3 colorways. In Kansas Troubles, Civil War, and 30's. I like them all but limited myself to Kansas Troubles and 30's. Should be lots of fun. Be sure to post your quitl when it's done. I'm sure it will be beautiful. I like 9 patch with white in it with the 30's.

I love the 30's vintage prints. I've got a 1930's Vintage Church Dash pattern and bought the 30's prints while in Alaska this past summer. Can't wait to begin but have a project already started. Am determined to finish it before I start the churn dash.

I graduated in 1964. And my decorations are still up too. I just had a real desire to spend time in my sewing room all by myself for awhile after all the company we had. I've done modern quilts too but my personal favorites are the old fashioned classics. Hope your new year is wonderful and peaceful!
