Looking forward to getting my new singer 301 that I won on e-bay. I had really wanted the black and was able to find one. It has no case, but I was not concerned as long as it had the bobbin case.
Is there a 1/4 with guide foot available? Is the throat depth same as standard sewing machine? Does anyone do free motion with theirs? Any tips? This will be a great additional to my featherweights  |
congratulations.
now i have a question.... why do people say they "won" things on ebay? you do pay for it right? when i buy stuff i don't feel like i won anything. please explain |
I always say "I won"...the bid. It's an auction so someone has to be the winner when everyone is bidding against each other.
Congrats on your wonderful, "new, machine, Tess10!!! |

Why the fuss about terminology - won vs. paid for it? The point of this post is to let us know how excited she is to get her new addition and ask questions about how to maximize use.
I say congratulations, no matter how you identify your acquisition!! Have fun & I wish you many happy years of stitching. |
Yes, there is an auction for the offered item. So truly you have won the auction and hopefully for a decent price. I am awaiting my "new" featherweights arrival then I will take before and after pictures :)

Congratulaions. Yes, there is a 1/4 foot and a SITD foot. I got mine, plus a new bobbin winder and a few other things from april1930s.com
FMQ is AnnieRose's claim to fame, as the thread goes straight up from the vertical bobbin to the stitch. With flat bobbins, the thread had to turn 45 degrees. The harp is a normal size in the 7 1/4"-7 1/2" size range, I think. I've done lap robes almost as big as twin quilt easily. Eventually, I will do a queen. The stitches are so straight on a machine with no zigzag, you'll love piecing with her, too. I like my Elna for apparel sewing, but the 301 is the quilting queen around here. |
Also have a 301 and 301A...Ebay has 1/4 guide foot for Slant needles...you must put in slant needle to find all the feet listed for the 301...Also available thru ebay is walking foot and Free motion foot for FM...I haven't tried FM yet because I have to get the foot...
Congrats you'll love sewing with it...it's a great machine |
The stitch plate has a 1/4 inch marking so I haven't found I needed a 1/4 inch foot.

Congrats on winning your 301!! I won one a year ago and love it!!! And I will second April's 1930 shop (april1930s.com). I have bought several presser feet and fabric from her. She offers free shipping on many of her items for sale.
