Yes, I have one! It's a mechanical machine, called the 'Sew-Mini'. It's fine for class as long as you don't have to do anything fancy. It comes with only one presser foot and the presser foot can't be removed, which surprised me. But since I only use it for piecing, that really isn't a problem.
It was about $60 when I bought it 6 months ago. It's kind of noisy, but at 5 pounds, is very easy to carry to class or guild meetings. The price is right, too, so I don't worry about dropping it or the 'grands' sewing on it, etc. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it doesn't come with a light. What were they thinking? |
You can but this from Home Depot. Looks like it would be a good machine. I lookd throught the manual and threads just like my janome.

If you watch Hancock Fabrics they run the Sew Mini on sale for 49.99 about every other week it seems.

Be careful with the Sew-Mini. It is difficult to sew an accurate 1/4 inch seam because the needle setting choices are limited and it puts the fabric edge into the track of the feed dogs. It is also noisy. Stitch choices are also very limited. I gave mine away after only two weeks to a children's home that wanted to teach young children how to sew.

Here. In England is a shop called :dunelm where I have seen very small computerised machines. Brother and janome.this is not a sewing shop just sells household stuff. NO SEWING FABRIC ANYMORE.
