80 weight bobbin thread
 

Has anyone ever used 80wt. bobbin thread? Is it too fine for a long arm???

I use Aurifil 80 wt in my bobbin for piecing. It's wonderful. Sorry, I don't know about a long arm but it does great for machine quilting on my regular machine.

No idea about a LA ....
I have used both 80 wt DecoBob for both top and bottom when quilting with my DSM. Similarly I have used 100 wt Invisafil.

They both have quilted well, and kept the quilting nice and subtle instead of in your face. Because of that, it helps to camouflage any quilting boo-boos! :D

Invisiafil is fantastic for machine quilting. It's less expensive the the silk thread which is the best thread I have ever used for machine quilting.

Thread weight is not the whole story. Is it one strand or two or three? If you pull on the thread, does it break easily?

Yes, it will work in a longarm. Be sure to adjust your bobbin case. I use it all the time. There is one called "Bottom Line" just for bobbins on the longarm...it is very fine but I am not sure what the actual weight is. Michelle

I haven't used 80 wt, bottom line is 60.
Dunster is right there are a lot of other factors with thread.
