I just read a Facebook post from Project Linus that said 8500 quilts were made and sent to Japan to help victims of the tsunami. That is an incredible number. I know our local group produced and contributed 100 of those in 2 weeks! Now we are doing the same for our own state. In the past week we have collected almost 50 quilts. Some of you have made contributions and we ThankYou very much! The effort continues so if you want to help, please PM me.

As a Project Linus Coordinator, I'll add to this plea for help. Many of the Linus Chapters are very low on blankets, as we sent the bulk of our inventory to Japan. I feel awful that I cannot come up with sufficient blankets for those in need in our own country. If you could make a blanket, please do so. It does not need to be fancy...perhaps 2 yards of fleece serged around the edges. Quick easy, and not too heavy to mail. Thanks for your consideration.

Wow! 50 quilts?! I didn't realize that so many have been collected! That's awesome! I do hope that more are donated though. We have so many homes that were destroyed. These quilts will really make someone happy.

I am working on some here - and tomorrow I plan to spend the day in the craft room, cleaning up clutter so that I can get ready to do some frame quilting.

Oh! I have some fleece here! I can do that! I am making some quilt tops too, waiting for the return of my long arm from the "spa". PM me with an address for the fleece blankets. I also have a bunch of kids flannels; would you want them in a simple quilt or blanket?

Grann of 6 - are you wanting them to go to your local Project Linus or for the Quilts for Alabama drive? I have addresses for the quilt shop we are working closely with as well as the distribution location that we are going through for the quilts to get in to the right hands...
You probably have a local Project Linus but I will be very honored for them to come to Alabama to help out some familis that lost everything here.

On May 14th, the Torch Club from the Yankton SD Boys and Girls club are going to Sioux Falls to give to Project linus 25 quilts and blankets they have been making (mostly at my house). It has been such an honor to teach this small group of children to make blankets and quilts. They are making a day of it starting with the presentation and I believe there will be news crews there to put in on the air. Good for Project Linus, good for the B & G torch club. Just thought I would share. They are planning on doing it again next year again.

No, I want them to go to Alabama. Just PM me with an address, if you will. As a kid we had a small tornado go through our property and took out trees but no damage to the house. But I had friends who lived in a trailer park that was destroyed. My mother donated a bunch of my outgrown clothes to them. Anything I can do to help, I will. I am sending some large quilts to Bamamama.

I hope the quilts make it to the ones that need them. Not long ago there was a post and picture online of truck loads of quilts sent to a disaster area overseas and the quilts were moldy, never given out. The paper work wasn't completed for them to be distributed, on the receiver's end not the sender's fault. I make and donate quilts to the local children's hospital and make fast utility quilts for the local Red Cross.
