No takers? OK , so I am creating my own. Here is my first 9-11-11 Memorial quilt block.

Would a shield shape do in memory of lost firefighters?
How about a block of linked hands in different skin tones? |
Both great ideas. Thanks.
I am trying to come up with a block featuring a symbol that best represents the firefighters, police, and all the rest who came to rescue and dig through the rubble. |
A silhouette of this picture would be amazing!

Good work on the block you made. Try your local library for books on 9/11. I have "September 11 - a testimony." It is all photographs, but you can get some ideas. There is one photo of the skyline from the water, with a the silhouette of a police officer on the ferry. Also, a photo of smoking trees bordering the field in Pennsylvania. Of course, you need a flag block and a "we will never forget" block.
Keep us posted on your quilt. And thank you. Kris |
Thanks, Justwannaquilt, I love that picture too! I am trying not to copy anything that is copyrighted.

Thanks, thomp116, I will see if I can find that book.
I am hoping to make the center of the quilt a waving flag. |
A lot of good ideas!

I got confused by what you meant by 9-11-11. 4 airplanes coming from a common point and then going in different directions... a mountain to the north, two together pointing east toward the buildings/ocean and one a little south toward the the pentagon. They could come from a blue sky but where they end up be a firey yellow orange and red.
